Blowing agents are chemical additives that decompose under heat during the molding process, releasing gases (typically nitrogen or carbon dioxide) that form a microcellular structure within the polymer. This results in a foamed part that is significantly lighter than a solid one, without compromising structural integrity.

For auto applications, where weight reduction is critical for fuel efficiency and performance, this technology is obviously incredibly valuable.
