Blowing Agents

What if your next injection-molded part could be lighter, faster to produce, and more stable at the same time?

As we’ve talked about before, here at NS KUNSTSTOFFTECHNIK - CZ we’re always exploring ways to push the boundaries of what’s possible. One technique that’s been a game-changer for us, especially with our automotive sector production, is the use of blowing agents as part of the molding process.

Blowing agents are chemical additives that decompose under heat during the molding process, releasing gases (typically nitrogen or carbon dioxide) that form a microcellular structure within the polymer. This results in a foamed part that is significantly lighter than a solid one, without compromising structural integrity.

For auto applications, where weight reduction is critical for fuel efficiency and performance, this technology is obviously incredibly valuable. The benefits go beyond weight savings, as we also get shorter cycle times, reduced material usage, and the final parts often have improved dimensional stability.

Curious how foaming and microcellular molding could transform your own part designs? Let’s connect and discuss where this technology can make the biggest impact in your production.
