World-class manufacturing isn’t about speed alone, it’s about getting it right the first time.
We talk often about precision and efficiency being at the epicenter of everything we do here at NS KUNSTSTOFFTECHNIK - CZ, but one of the most telling metrics of operational excellence is First Pass Yield (FPY); a measure of how many parts are produced correctly the first time, without the need for rework or scrap.
By utilizing FPY, we can calculate the percentage of products that pass all quality checks the first time through the manufacturing process. It’s a direct reflection of process stability, tooling accuracy, and material consistency.
Given that plastic injection molding is a high-volume and high-precision process, even small deviations can lead to defects, wasted material, and costly downtime. Using FPY as a KPI means reduced waste, improved efficiency and lower overall cost.
Regular maintenance, tight monitoring, the use of high-grade polymers, and most importantly a well trained and skilled team, all combine as factors which vastly influence the FPY.
